Pair of red wool epaulettes with “eagle A” buttons.
Epaulette outer-surfaces feature beautiful, woven red wool with a ribbed border, and thick rows of hanging tassels. A single eagle “A” button on each. Undersides are covered in red silk and red leatherette with shoulder cushions and brass fasteners.
The epaulettes exhibit almost no tarnish. Undersides are lined with blue wool. Each has an old paper label with “39” written, possibly an old collection number.
Overall condition is very good. Some small moth holes are found on the underside of one epaulette and there is light soiling on the tops at the button ends.
A beautiful set of militia officer’s epaulettes. These were acquired from the Texas Civil War Museum collection. [jet] [ph:L]
