This is a pair of tall leather riding boots that were very well made.
The body of the boot is made of three pieces. The front piece runs from the toe to the side of the ankles and then slightly up the front with a scalloped tab in a decorative fashion. The second piece forms the heel, again with a tab sewn up the back that extends up the length of the boot and covers the rear seam. The “upper” portion of the boot is a single piece with seam sewn up the back. Both boots have woven cotton straps to pull up the boots. Each has small rolled tab at back above the heel to support spurs.
The leather is in very nice condition. There are creases from being worn, some wear, and some minor cracking around the top edges. The soles and heels show wear. The boots measure 17.5” tall and the sole is 10.5” toe to heel.
A tall and fine pair of leather boots from the Texas Civil War Museum collection. [jet][ph:L]
