Top of the badge has a celluloid image of Colonel J. M. Bull within a brass frame.

Suspended from the image is a blue-ribbon meas. approx. 3.00 inches long. Gold lettering reads “COL. J. M. BULL – REUNION 126TH REGIMENT N.Y. VOLS. AUGUST 22, 1905 CANANDAIGUA, N.Y.”

Reverse has no pin, otherwise the item is in excellent condition.

The 126th New York were part of the misnamed group known to outsiders as “The Harper’s Ferry Cowards” which was made up of several regiments captured at Harper’s Ferry during the Antietam Campaign. The regiment displayed much courage later in the war and rendered particularly good service at Gettysburg where its colonel, Eliakim Sherrill was killed. James M. Bull took command after Colonel Sherrill was killed at Gettysburg.  [ad] [ph:L]
