At 12th New Hampshire reunions the regiment would give out small souvenir replicas of accoutrements such as a musket, knapsack, canteen or tin cup as mementos.
This item is the canteen. It meas. approx. 2.75 inches across with a spout and three sling keepers which hold a sling made of woven red cloth that has faded to pink.
The face of the canteen has a worn label on it that is near unreadable. All that can be made out is -2th N ….eers ….. at the……. 1882.”
Other than the worn label the canteen is in good condition. [ad] [ph:L]
