The Civil War Campaign Medal is considered the first campaign service medal of the United States Armed Forces. The decoration was awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces (North & South) who had served in the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865.

The medal consists of a bronze disk suspended from a blue and gray ribbon. There is a pin attached on the back at the top of the ribbon.

On the front of the disk is Abe Lincoln. In raised letters around the rim is “WITH MALICE TOWARD NONE WITH CHARITY FOR ALL.”

On the back is a wreath, with the words “THE CIVIL WAR / 1861-1865” in raised letters.

Very good condition.  [jet] [ph:L]
