This medal comes to us in a wonderful condition, complete with ribbon, pin, and medallion.
The pin piece is decorated with crossed flags, the date “1913”, and the logo of the St. Lawrence County Veterans Association. The ribbon is virtually perfect considering its age, with no tears and bold, gold text. The medallion features a statue portrait of General Newton Martin Curtis from its unveiling in Ogdensburg, New York.
The reverse is also in excellent condition. The pin backing is finished in black; the ribbon is folded over the ribbon bar – stitched and labeled with gold text reading “THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J.” Some very minor discoloration is noted along the white portion of the ribbon. The reverse of the medallion is also stamped with a Whitehead and Hoag casting stamp credit. Overall measurements are 1.9” x 4.25”.
In this condition, it is a perfect candidate for a GAR collection or display. [cm][ph:L]
