The 35th New Jersey Veteran Volunteers held their 7th reunion event on September 7th, 1896 in Flemington, N.J. Their service began in August of 1863 and took them to the Western Theater of the Civil War, where they saw action in virtually every major battle from Meridian to Bentonville.
This striking ribbon is a nice, azure blue with silvered text. An American flag banner ribbon holds a celluloid medallion with a gold and teal regimental logo. The reverse features a label reading “THE SOMMER BADGE MfG Co. NEWARK, N. J.” The lower edge retains its fringe, which stops at the decorative silver border pattern and a line of original machine stitching across the reverse. Another tag is stitched into the ribbon at the reverse lower edge and reads the same as the medallion label/tag. The flag ribbon is glued in place with a minor tear at upper right and very mild fraying at the lower reverse edge. No pin assembly is noted. Measures 5.8” x 2.1”.
A very attractive veteran piece for the collector of GAR and assorted veteran items. [cm][ph:L]
