Very nice coin silver ID badge in the shape of a shield representing the 23rd Army Corps. The face is features finely tooled edges with blue wool filling the center; the blue designating the 3rd Division of the 23rd Corps. The face of the badge is smooth with darker tarnish. The reverse reveals how the wool is held in place. The T-bar pin is present but detached.
XXIII Corps was a part of the Union Army during the Civil War. It served in the Western Theater as part of the Army of the Ohio.
