An attractive pair of silk membership/commemorative ribbons for Battery "B," Louisiana Field Artillery (L.F.A.), a New Orleans–based state militia/National Guard light artillery battery. Both retain their period safety-pin backs and printed devices.

The first is a magenta-purple silk ribbon with chevron-pointed top, printed in gilt with the crossed-cannon insignia of the artillery branch above the legend "Honorary. / BATTERY / B / L.F.A." in mixed serif, block, and Old English lettering, terminating in a self-fringe. The "Honorary" designation marks it as a ribbon issued to an honorary member or patron of the battery — common practice for these socially prominent militia organizations.

The second is an ivory/cream silk ribbon, also chevron-pointed, printed in rose with crossed cannons over a circular "HONOR AND DUTY" seal enclosing an entwined monogram, above "Battery 'B' / LOUISIANA / FIELD / ARTILLERY," finished with a full silk fringe.

Dimensions: purple ribbon approx. 5¾ in. × 1¾ in.; ivory ribbon approx. 6½ in. × 2 in.

Condition: Both show honest age. The purple example is bright with strong gilt. The ivory is toned with the printing notably faded/oxidized — legible but soft — and its fringe is somewhat unkempt. Pins intact on both.  [SS][ph:L]
