The 11th New Jersey is highly noted for its sacrifices at Gettysburg, where the unit brought 275 men into battle and saw over half of them killed or wounded, including multiple commanders who were killed or fell in quick succession.

This scarce variety of pin features two exotic celluloid accessories and a suspension ribbon of blue silk with gold gilt-embossed text. Fading and rubbing to the front face of the ribbon are noted and shown. The reverse of the celluloid 2nd Corps anchor pin features a Whitehead and Hoag commercial label and the reverse of the drop is stamped with a Whitehead and Hoag patent.  The wearer would have worn this from a singular, vertical stick pin mounted to the back of the Corps pin.  Dimensions are 1.7” x 6.5”.
