Pin has brass pin-bar with engraved border and “LADIES OF G.A.R.” Pin attached to back. A 1” wide American flag ribbon hangs from the pin-bar and supports a brass Maltese Cross with a Massachusetts state seal emblem attached. “POST 43” is engraved on the bottom edge. Overall measurements, 2 ¾” tall x 1 ¼” wide.
Condition of this piece is very good.
The Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic remains an active organization. It is a Congressionally Chartered non-profit organization, and is the oldest women’s hereditary organization in the United States. The original objectives of the organization included promotion of patriotism and loyalty to the Union, and participation in community service, especially for the aid of our Veterans and their dependents.
