Blue silk ribbon with faded lettering reads, “UNITED FRATERNALLY / A.O.K.M.C. / HOUTZDALE, PA., AUGUST 31 1895.” No pin. Good condition with slight fraying at the fringe. Light surface dirt is present. Ribbon measures approx. 2” x 7”.
The Knights of the Ancient Order of the Mystic Chain were a secret society in the US in the late nineteenth century. Founded by Freemasons in 1871, the group had a strong Masonic influence in its rituals and degrees, as well as incorporating elements from the Bible and Arthurian legend. [sm/ld] [ph:ld]
