Offered here is an unusual Grand Army of the Republic coat button. The brass face features the usual intertwined letters “G A R.” However, the back is made of dark gutta percha. A heavy brass shank can be unscrewed and then screwed into the opposite face. This allows this button to be used as both a “veteran’s reunion button” or a dark “dress button” to wear with a black suit. [jet] [ph:L]
