The hanging shoulder strap portion of this piece features the rank of Colonel – making this a Post Commander’s medal. All metal pieces are in excellent condition and the blue, painted shoulder strap background is virtually perfect.
The top piece is an eagle emblem perched on crossed ordnance with sword in talons, and has a robust pin backing. The lower medallion is a familiar five-pointed GAR seal. Each piece is attached by secure loops brass chain. The reverse is wholly unmarked and free of damage. The medal has no corresponding ribbon and shows no traces of one. 4.6” in total length.
An excellent item for the GAR enthusiast looking to add a Post Commander medal to the collection. [CM][ph:L]
