This unusual ivory colored, shield shaped celluloid badge measures approx. 2 1/2” x 3 1/8” and features an image of Robert E. Lee in a rococo bordered frame with a wreath at bottom on which is superimposed a shield bearing the ANV battleflag crossing a saber with sword knot, and typical Confederate wood canteen at right bearing the letters CSA in case anyone was in doubt. The maker name, The Whitehead & Hoag Co., is in very small letters at lower right. At bottom center is “LOUISVILLE. / MAY, 1900.” This was the tenth national reunion of the United Confederate Veterans, held from May 30 through June 3. A small hole at top center would have held the fastening pin. This is in excellent condition with good color.
Housed in a small Riker display box. [ld] [ph:L]
