The 46th Annual United Confederate Veterans (UCV) Reunion was held in June 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana. As few veterans remained by this date, it was part of the final, twilight years of the organization's national gatherings. In 15 more years, just 3 UCV members would attend the final reunion.
This program comes to us with a bit of light surface wear across the front and rear covers, but in a good condition overall. A complete crease is noted at left that extends through every page. All edges and corners are complete, with only very slight wear to the right corners and the fold line at left. Two staples hold the program together securely. No overt fading is noted and the reverse features two, original sponsorship advertisements – one for J.C. Penney’s and the other from the four hospitals of the Council of Shreveport Hospitals. Dimensions are 9” x 11.75”.
A neat remnant of one of the last larger reunions of the UCV. Would display very nicely. [cm][ph:L]
