Souvenir badge for the April 1906 Annual Reunion of the United Confederate Veterans, held in New Orleans. Badge has a top pin-back rectangular gilt brass bar reading “Souvenir,” from which hangs a red and white striped ribbon with six lines of impressed gilt lettering: “REUNION / CONFEDERATE / VETERANS / APRIL 25-27 1906 / NEW ORLEANS.” From this is suspended a gilt brass fan-leaved cross with octagonal center reading “U.C.V. / APRIL 25-27 / 1906 / NEW ORLEANS LA.” in raised letters on the arms with an enameled or painted Confederate battleflag at center. The reverse bears the maker’s mark of The Chas. M. Robbins Co. of Attleboro, MA. The top bar is bright. The ribbon shows some soiling and some fraying at top right with the gilt present but subdued on the upper three lines of printing, partially worn in the 4th line and worn, showing as muted silver and gray in the last two. This badge portion shows a muted gold tone with some scattered remnants of lighter gilt. The flat colors are good, but the stars have some touches of blue from the cross bars. The fastening pin is still present on the back of the top bar. Please see our photos. [sr][ph:m/L]
