Document is a bi-fold card done on green stock with an original tape spine. Closed the item meas. approx. 3.75 x 5.50 inches and open meas. approx. 7.50 x 5.50.
The item is a lot of information on the front page but the title of the item stands out at top center and reads “WEHRMACHT-FUHRERSCHEIN” or “Military Driver’s License.” The information on the cover has been typed in and tells us that the license allows Kurt Schmahl of the 2nd Company Replacement Unit in Stettin-Wendorf who was born on October 18, 1917 in Neu-Leiningen to operate a military vehicle.
The inside of the card has a photograph of Schmahl stapled to it with authorization stamps. The inside also tells us that the license was issued on November 8, 1943, that he is on active duty and that he can operate class 2 internal combustion motor vehicles.
The rear of the document also states that Schmahl can operate class 1 and class 3 vehicles to date from May 19, 1944.
Item is in good used condition. Swastikas on the stamps have been blurred or “de-Nazified.” [ad] [ph:L]
