Though trench art type items are mostly associated with World War One some of the genre also found its way into World War Two.
This item is a US enlisted man’s friction trouser buckle meas. approx. 2.50 x 1.50 inches. The reverse is marked “SOLID BRASS MADE IN U.S.A.” Buckle is complete with all its parts.
Attached to the front of the buckle is a 1943 dated Australian florin coin displaying a shield and crown flanked by two rampant stags. The coin is flanked by two .30 caliber bullets.
All metal surfaces have an even patina. [ad] [ph:L]
