The Minesweeper’s badge was authorized on August 31, 1940 by Commander in Chief of the Navy and Grand Admiral, Erich Raeder for award to personnel serving on minesweepers, sub-chasers, and escort vessels who met the requirements of participation in three operational sorties.
Badge is made of zinc with a solid back. It consists of a vertically oval, oak-leaf wreath with a spread-winged national eagle clutching a swastika top center. Within the wreath are horizontal waves and a cut-out, vertical, exploding, water funnel. Some gilt wash is visible along the bottom edge of the wreath.
Reverse has the original pin and “C” clasp. [ad] [ph:L]
