The 15th Army Air Force was organized in late 1943 in Tunisia before moving their headquarters to Italy. From Italy, the combined bomber and fighter wings of the 15th could fly missions across southern Europe against Axis industry. This is an authentic 15th Army Air Force patch that has been further adorned with gold bullion. It is in excellent condition with no signs of damage or wear. The bullion is still solidly attached and displays perfect patina for its age. Army Air Force patches such as this are highly sought after. [gh][ph:L]
