One of the main characteristics of the Japanese “last ditch” bayonet is its unfinished appearance.

The blued blade meas. approx. 15 9/16 inches long with a sharp edge but no fuller. The width of the blade is also thicker than normal. One side of the blades ricasso bears the mark of the Toyada Arsenal. The blade surface is very clean and the edge is free of nicks.

Iron cross guard is straight and contoured with muzzle ring at top. Wood grips are mostly block shaped with a slight contour at bottom. Grips are held in place by two rivets. Pommel is squared and has an operating release button.

Wooden scabbard has an iron throat and tip. Tip is nailed in place at bottom. In two places rows of wire hold the scabbard together. Attached to the bayonet is the leather frog in good condition. Scabbard is painted an OD color with some minor chips.  [ad]
