Steel model 1916 German helmet minus the liner. The body has a dark green surface. Right side of the crown exhibits two small holes with edge cracks no doubt caused by small shell fragments or bullets. Previous owner taped a piece of white paper to the inside of the shell to allow the holes to be more visible
Though the liner is missing all three of the liner fasteners are present along with their copper washers.
A wire has been attached through the air vents for hanging the helmet on a wall but this can easily be removed if desired.
A collectors tag attached to the shell reads “GERMAN WW1 MOD. 1916 STEEL TRENCH HELMET.”
Chinstrap is missing but the mounts are present.
This item is from the collection of the late Robert Jones, a World War Two Navy veteran who became interested in World War One as a child and collected through to the end of his life.
Nice relic of the Great War. [ad] [ph:L]
