During World War Two almost every military and civic authority had its own uniform and attendant accoutrements. This is the dress bayonet worn by the Feuerwehr or fireman.

The overall length of the drawn blade is 14.75 inches from point to pommel. Blade is bright and in excellent condition with just a few rub marks and small scattered pinpricks of discoloration. Ricasso in marked with a Puma head within a diamond with the word “PUMA” over “SOLINGEN.” Blade edge is excellent. Leather washer is present at the base of the blade and in good condition.

Iron “S” shaped guard and pommel are nickel plated and show light oxidation. Grips are crosshatched Bakelite and held by two rivets. Overall the hilt is very good.

Black metal scabbard is complete with an unmarked frog. Scabbard surface shows moderate wear from rubbing and scratches. Black paint has worn from an area approx. 1.50 inches long by 2.00 inches wide. This area is located about 3.00 inches up from the scabbard tip and shows some light surface rust. Leather frog is good but shows surface dirt from age and storage.

The attached portepee has three lines of stitching on its leather surface with a knot that is silver and red with a red dot at bottom center.  [ad] [ph:L]
