Item Code: 172-5659

Mid war Type 30 bayonet made by the Matsushita Metalworking Corporation under Kokura Army Arsenal supervision.

The drawn bayonet is 20.00 inches long overall while the blued blade itself is 15.75 inches with a central fuller that is 12.00 inches in length. The blued surface is very nice and very clean. The bluing is worn in some areas from the bayonet being drawn and replaced over the years. True edge is free of nicks. Overall the blade is very pleasing to the eye. One side of the ricasso is marked with stacked cannonballs for the Kokura Arsenal and the letter "M" with an arrow through it.

Iron guard is blued with a straight squared off quillon and muzzle ring. Wood grips are held by two rivets. Wood is in very nice condition. Squared bird shaped pommel is blued and has a working locking mechanism. The face of the pommel has Japanese characters and “31997.”

Metal scabbard is free of dents and has a two tone appearance with the area around the throat being lighter than the rest of the scabbard. Scabbard has a ball type finial with an iron horizontal loop at throat for attaching to the frog.  [ad][ph:L]
