Original WW2 German bayonet for “Karabiner 98K” Mauser bolt-action rifle.
The bayonet comes with original steel scabbard. Exterior surfaces are moderately rusty with pitting. The blade, protected within scabbard remains in nice condition.
The bayonet is approximately 15” overall; the blade is 10" long. The blade has retained much of its original gun-blue finish; the tip is intact. The blade has been sharpened. Original bakelite grips are nice; black in color. The release button is rusted in place.
Ricasso is stamped with "42 fnj" on one side and serial number 77 36 / n on the other. The scabbard is mismatching with different number over a date of 1936 stamped at the throat. The Waffenamt stamp on the bayonet’s pommel are unreadable. [jet] [ph:L]
