This item is called a Schiessbecher. It is the grenade launcher that was placed on the end of a KAR 98K rifle. The rifle would fire a wooden projectile to launch a 30mm grenade at a range of 280 meters. The grenades were of three types; antipersonnel, antitank and propaganda leaflet projectiles. These launchers were produced until May 1944.
This launcher is a ground dug relic from Eastern Europe. It has been cleaned and lubricated with most of the rust being removed. It still has the internal rifling and the upper and lower tubes can be separated as designed. It can easily attach to the barrel of a rifle and accept a DEACTIVATED, legal to own, Schiessbecher grenade.
The surface has pitting throughout and the tightening lever is missing, but it still makes for a nice display. [ad] [ph:L]
