Die struck steel, box type buckle with a nickel or silver plated finish. It features a stippled field with a central embossed imperial eagle with up-swept wings. The eagle is within a circular ribbed border with a simulated twisted rope on both the inner and outer edges. The ribbed circular border has an embossed motto of “GOTT MIT UNS” or “GOD WITH US.”

The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse. The reverse has the keeper and the prong bar with two prongs. Buckle has no maker’s mark.  [ad] ph:L]
