This canteen is similar to the Model 1910 but differs in that there is a leather strap running around the canteen cover with a snap hook at the top for attaching to the saddle. The leather is in good used condition and the cover has all five of the canvas keepers.
Canvas cover is in fair to good condition. It shows a good bit of surface dirt from age and use as well as one or two minor separations. It has both of its “lift-a-dot” flaps to hold the canteen in place. One of the flaps has signs of slight rodent damage along its edge. The same flap is maker marked --- CAMPBELL 1917. Front of the pouch has crossed sabers with a Company letter “D” below it superimposed over a faint “U.S.”
Canteen is dated 1918 and is undented. The cup bears the same date with a name scratched into the bottom that looks to be “REDMOND.” [ad][ph:L]
