The body of this canteen is marked at the base of the spout with “VDNS 40” showing that it was made at the Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke/Nickel-und Stahlwerke (United German Nickel Works/Nickel and Steel Works) of Schwerte, Germany.
The body of the canteen is in excellent condition and comes with its black Bakelite cap. The back of the leather strap which holds the cap in place is also stamped “VDNS40.”
The OD green cup is also attached and is marked “CFL43.” Bottom of the cup bears the initials “J.Z.”
Leather strap is complete with snap hook. [ad] [ph:L]
