Shovel appears to have been repainted at some point. Paint is even in color and texture and snows no wear. Item meas. approx. 23.25 inches long with a spade shaped iron head and a “T” shaped wood handle.
The spade head is attached to the handle by an iron tang that with two round rivets. Tang is stamped “US.”
Handle is in good condition with the “T” portion being held by an iron brace anchored by two round head rivets. Between the head tang and the spade brace, the wood is stamped “US.”
Covering the head of the shovel is a khaki canvas cover marked “U.S.” on one side and maker marked “AIRTRESS MIDLAND” and dated “1942” on the other. Cover has the hooks for attaching to the web belt. Cover is in excellent condition. [ad] [ph:L]
