The full title of this volume is “CARNIVAL OF BLOOD – THE CIVIL WAR ORDEAL OF THE SEVENTH NEW YORK HEAVY ARTILLERY.”

The history is by Robert Keating and it was published by Butternut & Blue of Baltimore, Maryland in 1998.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 565 pages with index. The volume also has 31 black & white illustrations and 13 maps.

Dustjacket is wrapped in Mylar and is in excellent condition.

The 7^th New York Heavy Artillery was raised in September of 1862 and was assigned to the defenses of Washington, D.C. until May of 1864 when it was converted to infantry and assigned to the 2^nd Corps of the Army of the Potomac. They fought from Spotsylvania through the end of the war. They suffered heavily at Spotsylvania, Totopotomoy Creek, Cold Harbor, Petersburg and Reams Station. Just in killed, died of wounds and disease the regiment lost 18 officers and 651 enlisted men. This number does not include the hundreds of others who were wounded and survived.   [AD] [PH:L]
