The full title of this volume is “OURS. ANNALS OF THE 10TH REGIMENT MASSACHUSETTS VOLUNTEERS IN THE REBELLION”

The author is Captain Joseph Keith Newell who served as a member of Company I of the regiment. The book was published in Springfield in 1875.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 609 pages with roster and several illustrations.

Green covers are original with a spine repaired using green tape, professionally done, with the original cloth from the spine, complete with title in gold, glued to the tape. Cover edges show wear from age. Interior has new endpapers both front and back. Pages have yellowed some. Inside front cover has several previous owner’s names. Roster has some old ink notations.

The 10th Massachusetts was raised in June of 1861 and served its three years with the Army of the Potomac’s 4th and 6th Corps. They were engaged on the Peninsula, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and through most of Grant’s Overland Campaign until they were mustered out at the expiration of their term of service on July 6, 1864. The regiment lost 11 officers and 179 men killed, died of wounds and disease. [AD] [PH:L]
