The full title of this volume is “FROM BULL RUN TO CHANCELLORSVILLE: THE STORY OF THE SIXTEENTH NEW YORK INFANTRY TOGETHER WITH PERSONAL REMINISCENCES” by Newton Martin Curtis, LLD. Brevet Major General, U.S. Vols.

This volume was published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons in New York in 1906.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 384 pages with roster and index. The volume also has 4 black & white portraits.

Front signature is a bit fatigued but holding well and should be okay for some time to come. Blue cloth boards show light wear and no dirt. Front cover has the title in gold with a red 1st Division, 6th Corps badge. Title, author and publisher repeated in gold n the spine.

Inside front cover has a period ink inscription that reads “MR. B. S. ORCUTT, DICKINSON CENTER, NEW YORK 1910.” All that can be found about Mr. Orcutt is that he was a newspaper reporter for the New York Tribune.

The 16th New York was organized in May of 1861 for two years’ service and served with the 1st and 6th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. They were engaged at 1st Bull Run, on the Peninsula, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville. The regiment lost 6 officers and 191 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease.    [AD] [PH:L]
