The full title of this volume is “HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE FIRST REGIMENT MARYLAND INFANTRY WITH AN APPENDIX CONTAINING A REGISTER OF THE OFFICERS AND ENLISTED MEN, BIOGRAPHIES OF DECEASED OFFICERS ETC…” by Charles Camper and J. W. Kirkley who were both members of the regiment.

The history was originally published in 1871. This reprint was done by Butternut & Blue of Baltimore, Maryland in 1990.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 4.00 x 7.50 inches and runs 321 pages with roster and index. The volume also contains several black & white photographs of members of the regiment.

Covers are done in orange cloth with the title embossed in gold on the front. Title and authors names are repeated on the spine.

The 1st Maryland US was organized in May of 1861 and served in the Middle Departments 8th Corps as well as the 1st and 5th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. They saw action in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign at Front Royal where it suffered casualties of 8 killed, 58 wounded and 461 captured. They next saw action at the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor and throughout the siege of Petersburg. In total the regiment lost 9 officers and 158 enlisted men killed and died of wounds and disease.  [AD] [PH:L]
