The full title of this volume is “REMINISCENCES OF THE WAR, COMPRISING A DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THE EXPERIENCES OF THE THIRTEENTH NEW JERSEY VOLUNTEERS IN CAMP, ON THE MARCH, AND IN BATTLE WITH PERSONAL RECOLLECTIONS OF THE AUTHOR” by Samuel Toombs who served in Company F of the regiment and with a new introduction by David G. Martin.

The history was originally published in 1878. This reprint was done by Longstreet House of Hightstown, New Jersey in 1994.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 5.50 x 8.00 inches and runs 306 pages with roster and index. The volume also contains two woodcuts of members of the regiment.

Covers are done in blue cloth with the title embossed in gold on the front. Title and authors names are repeated on the spine. Interior is very clean.

The 13th New Jersey was organized in August of 1862 and served in the 2nd Corps of Pope’s Army of Virginia as well as in the 12th Corps of the Army of the Potomac and the 20th Corps of the Army of the Cumberland. They saw action Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Resaca, Kennesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta and Averysboro. In total the regiment lost 3 officers and 115 enlisted men killed and died of wounds and disease.  [AD] [PH:L]
