Full title of this work is “HISTORY OF THE FIRST REGIMENT MINNESOTA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY 1861-1864 ” by R. I. Holcombe, and reprinted by R. Van Sickle Military Books of Gaithersburg, Maryland in 1987.
Hardcover is bound in black cloth with the title in silver on the front cover and repeated on the spine. Covers are in excellent condition.
Volume meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 508 pages with roster and index. There are several black & white photographs and maps.
Binding is excellent. Interior is like new.
The 1st Minnesota spent the bulk of its service in the 2nd Corps of the Army of the Potomac. The regiment is known for its historic charge at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863 where they took 80% casualties.
The regiment served from 1st Bull Run on July 21, 1861 through Petersburg losing 12 officers and 274 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease. [ad] [PH:L]
