The 37th North Carolina served in the Department of North Carolina until May of 1862 when it was transferred to the Army of Northern Virginia. It saw action at New Bern, on the Peninsula, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and throughout the long and hard Overland Campaign to the war’s end.
