The full title of this volume is “TRIALS AND TRIUMPHS – THE RECORD OF THE FIFTY-FIFTH OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY” by Captain Hartwell Osborn and published by A.C. McClurg & Co. of Chicago, Illinois in 1904.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6.00 x 9.00 inches and runs 364 pages with roster. The volume also has eighty portraits, four views and ten maps.

Blue cloth boards are in nice condition and covered in Mylar. Front cover has the title in gold with a line of musical score below it. Interior is very good though the page edges have yellowed with age. Binding is excellent.

The 55th Ohio Infantry was organized on October 1, 1861. They served in the 1st Corps of Pope’s Army of Virginia before joining the 11th Corps of the Army of the Potomac. Going west with their Corps they became part of the 20th Corps of Sherman’s army in April of 1864. They were engaged at McDowell, Franklin, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Bull Run, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Missionary Ridge, Buzzard’s Roost, Resaca, Kennesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, Atlanta, Averysboro and Bentonville.    [AD] [PH:L]
