This copper token features a likeness of the equestrian statue of President Andrew Jackson which stands in Lafayette Square across the street from the White House. Text around the circumference: “THE FEDERAL UNION IT MUST BE PRESERVED 1863”.  On the reverse is a shield surrounded by a laurel wreath, with the words, “OUR UNION.”  [LD][ph:L]
