A $100 Confederate States of America banknote dated July 28, 1862 in brown ink, with serial number 22205 in red ink. The Confederate T-39 $100 note is a piece of Civil War currency issued under the Act of April 17, 1862. Known to collectors as one of the "Train Notes," it features a distinctive central vignette of a steam locomotive with a vertical column of white smoke. This specific issue served an economic dual-purpose, as it was an interest-bearing note paying holders two cents of interest per day. On the left side is a depiction of a milkmaid carrying a basket on her head. Engraved and printed by J.T. Patterson & Co. in Columbia, South Carolina.

This note displays an off-white paper tone, two pin holes, no folds, and three stamps on the reverse which are marked Augusta. [jet][ph:L]
