The 1863 Confederate States of America $50 bill (Catalog T-57) is a historic piece of Civil War currency featuring an oval portrait of Confederate President Jefferson Davis at the center. Issued on April 6, 1863, as part of the 5th series of CSA paper money.

On the front is a large central vignette of Jefferson Davis overprinted with a blue/green tint to deter counterfeiters. It has signatures in brown ink and serial numbers (23690) printed in red ink. On the back is an ornate geometric layout printed completely in green ink displaying the denomination "50". Note was printed by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, South Carolina.

Two 0.75” cancellation holes are drilled through the note, several pin holes, but no folds or wrinkles. An uncommon Confederate note. [jet][ph:L]
