A fine Confederate Georgia Volunteer pay document for Seaborn Jones Saffold, Co. K, 2nd Georgia State Line troops. Nicely filled out and suitable for framing. This document with a printed State of Georgia heading is very unusual. Measures 8 ¾” x 7 ½”; fold lines, 3 old tape repairs visible on reverse, otherwise in fine, clean condition.
Dated April 30, 1863 for the pay period of February 12 – April 30 of 1863, for a total of $333.66. Signed, “Seaborn J Saffold / Capt Co K 2nd Ga”.
Seaborn J. Saffold was born in Morgan County, GA in 1838 and died in 1875 in Selma, AL, where he is buried in Live Oak Cemetery.
