Offered here are two discharge papers for William H. Weise. The first is the discharge from his 1861 enlistment; the second is the 1865 discharge from his re-enlistment as a veteran volunteer.

Both documents are in good condition, with ink inscriptions still clear and very readable. Each has two folds and shows light edge and corner wear. The latter document is signed by his brother, Captain Levi Weise, as his Company Commander.

William H. Weise was born on July 31, 1846 and lived in Berks County, PA. He enlisted on October 4, 1861 into Company B, 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry. He was present for duty in all their many engagements until May 5, 1864 when he was wounded during fighting in the Wilderness. He was promoted to Corporal on November 15, 1864. Weise was mustered out with the regiment on June 27, 1865.

Two fine documents from a hard-fighting 6th Army Corps regiment.  [jet] [ph:L]
