The first item in this small lot is a framed photo collage of Company D, 175th Infantry, 29th Division. Image size is 18.00 x 15.00 inches in the original period frame. Pictured and fully identified are 107 members of the Company. At top center is “COMPANY D, 175TH INFANTRY, 29TH DIVISION, FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, MARYLAND.” Below this title is the crest for the 5th Maryland Infantry National Guard flanked by the year “1942.” The collage is arranged with the Company Commander at top center flanked by the Sergeants followed by the Corporals, PFC’s and Privates working downward from the top. The photograph has some minor condition issues. At one time the top half of the image has gotten wet and left behind some stains as well scattered surface dirt. A small number of images are lightly affected by the staining. On only one of the 107 images is there any facial feature loss.
With the photograph is a framed copy of the BALTIMORE SUN for April 3. 1943 showing 8 photographs of Rangers training in Scotland. One image shows General Gerow speaking to a Scottish officer. Two of the photographs are group shots of the Rangers if field gear taken during a break in training while one shows them in action. Three of the images are of named individual soldiers. Framed the item meas. approx. 22.75 x 28.75 inches. Newspaper has yellowed with age but is otherwise good. [ad] [ph:m]
