Vol. 1, No. 4. Dated “Danville, VA., May 1, 1865.” 2 pp, 18.25” x 12.5, five columns.  Exhibits fold-marks, light chipping at the extremities. Else VG.

This Union occupation newsletter was published by the 6th U.S. Army Corps, on the press of the Danville Register.

Front page contains 6th Corps Greek cross, along with various announcements, including Gen. Wrights congratulatory order to the 6th Corps. Also a roster of staff officers at 6th Corps headquarters, as well as addresses with the town of Danville. Also a “Warning to Marauders”, and a notice to paroled Confederate officers and soldiers, and to Union soldiers and officers regarding passes within and without town. Also important news from Greensboro, NC, where Gen. Wright’s veteran are the first to enter and occupy the town without resistance—“They Are Welcomed By the Inhabitants—Everybody Delighted, etc., etc,  etc.”

Superb Sixth Corps collectible. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing. [JP] [ph:L]
