This is a standard Model 1855 socket bayonet for .58cal rifle muskets. The bayonet blade measures 18” and has ‘US’ stamped on the flat shank. There are no clear makers’ marks. The socket measures 3” and the ring is frozen. Inside the socket is smooth with rust coloring. Overall the blade and socket (outside) have a dark patina. [mk] [ph:L]
