The blade meas. approx. 20.00 inches long with a 14.25 inch unstopped central fuller. The blade’s surface is bright but does show several rub marks with some light scattered mottling and some light surface dirt. The true edge is free of nicks.
The bayonet has a cast brass ribbed grip with a working bar and button attachment mechanism. The brass counterguard has a barrel band at top and round quillon at bottom. Top of the guard, just forward of the bayonet lug mortise, has stamped inspector’s initials of “B.H.”
Leather scabbard is in very nice condition. The leather surface has only minor visible wear. Both the brass throat with frog stud and tip are present and wear a mellow patina. The rear seam of the leather body is tightly closed.
All brass has light patina.
A good example. [ad] [ph:L]
