This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets.  Measures approximately 21” overall.  This specimen features a semi-bright surface overall with dark spotting over the blade. Complete with locking ring and screw.  Large “US” clearly stamped on blade flat. In good condition.

Original black bridle leather scabbard and frog. The body is in very good condition. The stitched seam running up the back is complete and unbroken. Brass scabbard tip attached with four tacks. Arched leather frog is in very good condition. The frog is seven rivet style and is sewn to the scabbard. Frog is unmarked.
