This is an original Model 1855 socket bayonet for .58 caliber Civil War era Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall.
This specimen features a mottled gray surface tone. Some very fine pitting over the socket and top flat of the blade. Original, working locking ring and screw. Bold “US” stamp on the blade flat.
